Covington
County is ideally located just 63 miles south of Jackson,
the state's capital, and provides easy access to other parts
of the state and nation. To the south, U.S. highway 49
serves the city directly and leads to the Mississippi Gulf
Coast. Northward, U.S. Highway 49 connects with Interstate
55 in Jackson, leading to Memphis, St. Louis, and the Great
Lakes Region. In addition, U.S. Highway 84 provides an
interstate route to major cities east and west. State
highways 35, 532, 588, 535, 589 and 590 link Covington
County with the six neighboring counties. The county also
enjoys the close proximity of the Jackson International
Airport and the Hattiesburg Laurel Regional Airport. |
