Seminary |
Seminary,
on the beautiful Okatoma
River, stands where Zion
Seminary once stood. The
boarding school, established
in 1846, was destroyed
during the Civil War.
Incorporated in 1899, the
town was an agricultural and
trade center for a large
rural area. The town’s rich
heritage can be experienced
in the historic homes and
buildings and amid the
ancient live oaks of the
school campus. Today, the
town is a favorite launching
point for those who canoe
the scenic Okatoma. Each
fall, thousands gather for
the Seminary Founders’ Day
celebration.
