Collins |

The City of Collins was organized in 1906 and also became
the county seat of Covington County. With a population
of 2,623 Collins is strategically located at the crossroads
of Highways 49 and 84 and is currently experiencing a
tremendous growth rate in both business and industry.
Collins has 10 full-time and four part-time police
personnel, one full-time and 20 volunteer firemen, three
local parks, seven baseball fields, five tennis courts,
numerous Protestant churches, three schools and an exemplary
wetland lagoon. The medical facilities are extraordinary
with all doctors being board certified and the 82-bed
hospital being considered one of the best small hospitals in
the state. Collins is adjacent to recreational areas for
fishing, swimming, water skiing, canoeing, hunting and
golfing. |
